BACKSTORY
As some of you who are reading this know my son, Jason Maurer, has a passion for Judo and Japan.
When Jason was about 5 years old he said, “Mommy, when I grow up I want to go to Japan and I’m going to be a Ninja.” I laughed it off as the product of a child’s imagination. Fast forward 8 years… In the 2 years he has been in Judo he has excelled. He’s won awards and medals. His Sensei and team mates have commented that Jason has and continues to grow into a well-rounded, intelligent, and caring young man. About 2 weeks ago, we got news that Jason’s passion, hard work, and delightful soul has brought a chance for Jason to see his dream come true.

SOOOO EXCITED
The USJF (Unites States Judo Federation) contacted Jason’s Sensei and told him that because of Jason’s passion and drive, he was selected to attend a Judo training camp in Japan on a scholarship. Jason will be the youngest child ever to attend this camp.

Not only is this Jason’s dream, but this trip is also a wonderful opportunity to learn and experience the essence of Japanese Judo in addition to learning about Japanese culture. The camp will provide a unique look at Japanese training methods and what it takes to go to the next level in Judo. Excursions to the Kodokan, Eishoji Temple (the birthplace of Judo), the Imperial Palace, and other cultural sites make the trip a well-rounded experience.

Jason will spend 17 amazing days in Japan. He will train 2 times/day for 2hrs/ class. He will attend a tournament at the Nippon Budokan (Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo), which is the stadium hosting the Judo competitions in the 2020 Olympics.

NOW COMES THE HARD PART...
Raising the money to get him to Japan and cover the day-to-day incidentals of the trip. The remainder of Jason’s trip is approximately $3200. Airfare alone is $2100. The remainder is for daily incidentals (food), train passes to and from training and throughout Japan, and site seeing excursions.

PLEASE HELP!
I am asking for your help in making Jason's dream come true. Will you, please, donate to this gofundme? Any amount helps get him closer to Japan. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I don't want to see it pass him by. I won't be able to do this without help from family and friends. If you are not able to donate, will you take a few minutes and share this?

I am not able to express just how grateful I am to have such amazing people in our lives.Through tears of love and happiness, I am writing thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I look at my 13 year old son and see a Ninja in the making.
