Help get kids on bikes: Season 2!
Donation protected
Hi everyone! Around this time last year I asked for donations to get some local kids on mountain bikes and out onto our trails, noting the geographic and financial barriers the sport presents to so many families. While we put a two-kid dent in the problem, those access issues--particularly for kids of color and kids of limited financial means--are still very much there, so we’re back for more! (Also it was SO fun)
The team has grown to include Maggie and Dave, who the kids absolutely love. Both went above and beyond last year to make sure the kids got to keep riding when I was off the bike for a couple of months with an injury.
This season we’re going to keep riding with our established kids and add a couple more groups too - a pair of older kids and a pair of younger kids. That means four new bikes and four sets of protective gear (and critical accessories like skeleton gloves and helmet spikes, of course)
To really kick things off, we’d like to introduce our first confirmed 2022 participant, Jannah!
Jannah is the little sister of Heaven (a breakout star of Season 1), and she’s been practicing her bike riding all year with her mom! She also got a great introduction to mountain biking at a camp last summer (thanks Sweetlines!). Jannah is such a fun kid with an imagination that never stops, and we can’t wait to get out onto the trails with her and the others!
Riding with the kids has been so much fun for everyone and we can’t thank you enough for having made it possible the last time around. If you can give, know that your donation will lead directly to smiles like these!
And if you’re local to the Seattle area, we’ve just posted an update to the website and the application for the coming season. Please share this post with any families or organizations that might be interested! THANK YOU!!!
