Help get Jimmy Walking Again!
Donation protected
Hi everyone. I am raising funds on behalf of little kitty Jimmy who we need to get ZOOOMING around again. Jimmy was found dragging his rear legs on the side of a road in Nashville, IL on 8/29/20. It is unclear if he was hit by a car, thrown or if this is a 'tail pull' incident. Jimmy was picked up by Nashville Animal Control (in Illinois) and found his way into the heart of Warden Deb. Jimmy had no movement of his rear legs when first found but at Nashville Animal Control started showing signs of semi spastic rear leg movement. Deb cleaned him up, attempted water therapy and looked for a rescue willing to take chance on him. He was pulled into rescue 9/14/20. Xrays were done and they showed no fractures. Acupuncture, laser and physical therapy were started.
THERE IS REASON FOR HOPE. On 9/18 Jimmy stood on his own for a few seconds. On 9/21 Jimmy stood to eat a whole can of canned food. On 9/22 Jimmy took a few steps with limited support in his chute (see picture). Doctors indicate he has a spinal injury with nerve damage. They feel he has a good chance of regaining full mobility and bladder control with continued treatment. They feel bladder control will come upon once he gains more stability and strength in his back. The first 4-6 weeks after a trauma are very important and aggressive therapy during this time can have a tremendous impact on outcomes.
Jimmy purrs constantly and reaches out for hugs. He is dealing with a lot with pain from the injury, a real bad urinary track infection and just being held back. He would be very grateful for the assistance as would I.
Funds will go towards: x rays, urinary tract infection treatment, ongoing pain/inflammatory medicine through this time period and physical therapy/laser/acupuncture multiple times a week for the next 4-6 weeks.
Thank you everyone.
Jimmy's name was originally Zeke. I changed it a month in.
