Help get Lissette back from ICE

Hi! My name is Bryan. My family and I are originally from Mexico. My family came to the United States for a better life. My sister Lissette has lived in the United States since she was 14 years old. Lissette and my sister, Denisse, grew accustomed to another language and other customs. When I joined my family in the United States, my life was changing a lot, but my sisters didn’t leave me alone. Lissette helped me learn English. She would also help me with my homework while my other sister Denisse would teach me how to live in a new different world. My mom has always tried to give us everything she can. My sister Lissette, now 22,  graduated from high school with a 3.8 GPA and with honors. People would always say “you have to be like your sister”. I've always seen her as a role model. She won a scholarship at a college in Syracuse, a place very far from home but sometimes you have to give up some things to get better ones. I’m amazed at how she does it because she plays on her school's soccer team yet she keeps her grades high.

She’s supposed to graduate from college this semester now but recently something terrible, and traumatic  happened. A few days before she was going to take the bus to come home, to her family, ICE appeared at the bus stop she was at and detained my sister for looking Latina. In a crowd of many, they went straight for my sister and detained her.

Even though Lissette has an approved petition (Special Immigrant Juvenile Status), she has been waiting for a long time for a visa to become available so she can apply for a green card. Her visa will be available in the next few months and her attorney will help her apply for a green card. 

Despite her approved petition, the officers wrongly told her that her case was denied and took her even further away to a shelter-like hell in Buffalo. She has been detained for some days now, coming on almost a week. Even though Lissette has never committed a crime, is a full-time college student and has an approved immigration petition, ICE has set a bond of $15,000 in order for my sister to be released.

We know its a lot of money, but I believe in the power of community and for a good cause, miracles can happen. We are worried because we know how she’s feeling right now, miserable, sad, confused, and traumatized. We can’t do much because we have no where near that money and we need help from anyone to help my sister out. $1, $5, anything will help get her out. Please help us out. Lissette will be released as soon as we gather enough money and will be able to return to college to finish her semester. It would mean the world for our family. Thank you.
