Help Get Me to Yale
Donation protected
My name is David Adeleke and I am a writer based in Lagos, Nigeria.
Two months ago, I got accepted into a workshop at Yale University – THREAD at Yale. It's a workshop where journalists and storytellers gather together to learn from experts in storytelling for media.
Attending this workshop will be a huge step forward in my career. It will give me the opportunity to learn from some of the best people in my profession and in such a phenomenal environment like Yale Univerisity. This workshop will also give me one foot in the door when I plan to further my education.
I was encouraged to apply for a full-tuition scholarship due to the current economic situation of my country. On Monday morning, I got an email that I had been given a partial scholarship.
This is a big deal for me. The partial scholarship will see Yale knock $750 off my tuition fee, leaving me to pay the remaining $1,145. But honestly, even that is more than I can afford. Even the flight tickets from Nigeria to the U.S. will cost a lot.
Opportunities like this don't come often so I will be eternally grateful to anyone who can help make this dream a reality. The cost of attending the workshop is around $3500 and I have just a week to raise this.
These are links to some of my work:
Everything about Flora Nwapa screamed ‘feminist’, everything but her own words
Na woman dey drive: Discussing patriarchy and sexism on Nigerian roads
I also have a novel in the works. Here's a link to the first chapter.
Your donation will go a long way in making me a much better writer and storyteller and it will be a huge investment in my future.
Thank you.
