Help Mr. Jaffar buy a classroom set of headphones

Hi All - my name is Nabil Jaffar, and I teach 10th-grade chemistry at Englewood STEM, a neighborhood school that is part of the Chicago Public Schools network. Like many teachers, I'm getting ready for the upcoming school year, which includes getting materials for my classroom. I'm setting up this GoFundMe because I want to purchase a classroom set of headphones.

I've spent the past few months reflecting on ways to improve my practice as an educator, and I keep coming back to the same conclusion - the traditional model of delivering content through daily lectures doesn't work for most students. I'm modifying my practice to change my classroom for the better, and I need your help to make that happen. With the funds to purchase these headphones, I will implement the Modern Classroom Project for my 10th Grade Chemistry classes.

What is the Modern Classroom Project? The Modern Classroom Project is a research-based instructional model that incorporates blended learning and self-pacing for students, where teachers create videos of themselves teaching content that their students can access at their own pace. Students only move on to the next lesson once they demonstrate mastery of the skill/content. (Watch the 2-minute video for this modality in action)

To execute this vision, I need a classroom set of headphones for students to use when watching my instructional videos. My largest class the past two years was 30 students, so I'm fundraising to purchase 35 headphones (with the expectation that some devices will stop working during the school year). Please consider supporting me in my attempts to make this vision a reality.
