HELP TOM AFTER HIS AFRICA DISASTER!

Hi I’m Oli and I’m raising money to get our dear friend Tom home from Namibia after an serious accident left him in hospital and his insurance bailed on helping him as the road he was on had no road number!!!

On September 11th, during a motorbike adventure weaving through the breathtaking landscapes of Namibia, Tom's once in a lifetime journey took an unexpected turn. An Oryx suddenly darted across the road, hurling him into a life-altering crash along a remote dirt road, just 12km North of Solitaire in central Namibia.

The aftermath was harrowing - hours of agonizing wait for a makeshift ambulance pickup truck, a grueling 261km journey to the hospital, and a painful revelation of multiple broken ribs, a fractured collarbone, a shattered left hand, third-degree friction burns tracing the right side of his body, a collapsed lung, and a litany of other injuries. Tom found himself in the intensive care unit at Lady Pohamba Hospital in Windhoek, Namibia, where his battle for recovery began, a battle that will go on for the foreseeable future.

Amidst the physical and emotional anguish, Tom faced yet another daunting challenge as his insurance appraisal shockingly denied the claim. This denial has left him grappling with mounting bills, including but not limited to:

- N$39,114 for initial X-rays and CT scans

- N$23,250 for crucial orthopedic surgical procedures

- N$8,500 for emergency services

- N$4,118 for anesthetic services

- N$56,974 for the cost of his hospital stay (up to 13/09)

- N$2,413 for vital physiotherapy sessions

In the days to come, Tom is set to transition to a trauma rehabilitation center in Windhoek, where he'll face further financial strain during his arduous recovery. To compound the difficulties, while he has superb remote support from family and friends back home, Tom finds himself on his own, with the weight of impending bills looming over him.
