Help Get Melinda Oakeson Home

Donation protected
Hi, on behalf of the Oakeson Family who are grieving the loss of their oldest daughter, big sister, aunt and friend, Melinda Oakeson, this fundraiser has been created.

Last Saturday morning, October 21st, her parents were notified Melinda had passed away in a hiking incident.

Melinda was an independent woman who knew what she liked and didn’t like. Being outdoors, especially near water and traveling were things she loved. She was kind, funny, sensitive, and passionate about her faith and learning. She loved and valued her family, and made friends wherever she went. Her passing is hard for everyone, and grieving very real right now.

Melinda had recently been in Kingman, AZ and traveled to Lake Havasu which is close by. Being independent she usually stayed in contact with her family, and when they hadn’t heard from her they submitted a missing person report. Family started their search for her in Arizona at the same time the report was made.

While in Arizona family received the call she had been found near Lake Havasu, where it seemed she had fallen while hiking in rough terrain. Though her passing was traumatic and is hard to comprehend, family headed to Lake Havasu to work out getting her home.

As with the unexpected hardship of losing a child and sister so suddenly, now her family is overcoming the challenge to get her body transported home to Utah, fund her funeral, and cover burial costs.

This fundraiser is created to help ease the immediate financial burdens that have come with Melinda’s passing. Her parents have secured a way to transport her body from Arizona to the Salt Lake Valley, but they will need an additional $5,000-$7,000 to cover her funeral and burial costs over the next few weeks.

Anything and everything you can donate helps. Please consider donating at this time if you are willing and able.

All funds will be given to her parents and used to cover the costs of gas for said transport, a funeral, and her burial. If there is anything extra it will go to her parents to help tie up loose ends relating to Melinda’s unexpected passing.

If donating financially is a hardship for you, please consider keeping the Oakeson family in your prayers that they will feel peace amidst their struggles and receive the additional help they need to heal from Melinda’s traumatic passing and they can process the grief of losing her so young.
