Help Ghazal's family escape Gaza and reunite again

I am Adel Ghazal, a Palestinian father from Gaza. I hope this message finds you well. Despite writing from one of the most unsafe places, Gaza, at the age of 63, I am battling diabetes and coronary artery disease, and recently had open heart surgery, and unfortunately developed a chronic infection in the wound that went into my rib cage.

Obtaining daily medication, particularly insulin, aspirin and concor is challenging here, aggravated by the heart issues resulting from bombings and pervasive smoke.

Since October 7, I have been stranded in the north of Gaza, unable to access my income as all banks are destroyed to the ground in the north of Gaza. Consequently, I have been without any income, making it a struggle to provide for my family amidst skyrocketing prices for life essentials like food and water.

What puts salt on the injury is our once warm and beautiful home lying destroyed to the ground alongside all our memories, after painstakingly building it through years of hard work and sacrifice.

My 60-year-old wife, who despite her age, bravely shoulders the responsibility of managing our household, suffers from chronic hypertension and severe psychological distress due to the ongoing genocide.

My daughter, Abeer, a computer engineering student who was about to graduate and on the verge of bride future, saw her dreams shattered when her university was targeted and put to the ground. With the current lack of internet and electricity in Gaza, pursuing her education or studying abroad to support our family is nearly impossible. My greatest desire is to witness my daughter's graduation and see her hard work pay off.

However, our family is torn apart as some are separated out of town while the rest in town can't see each other due to the war and evacuations. We yearn for reunion, but the unbearable cost of safe passage, $5,000 per person, is beyond our means. Any donation, no matter how small, brings us closer to our dream of being reunited and living free from the scourge of war. Your support is deeply appreciated.
