WHAT HAPPENED?: Gidget had a classic case of the zoomies during the first phase of COVID-19. This delightful scene of Gidget being so happy took a dark turn when she clipped her rear end on a wall abutment, dislocating her kneecap. Gidge had her kneecap reset but to no avail. It kept happening. We started a long journey doing doggie physical therapy and IT WORKED! She was getting better!

WHAT ARE THE CHANCES?: Add a copperhead and a neighbor's dog into this story and WHAM, Gidget's leg is worse than ever. Thankfully, I had all the tools I learned from doggie PT to rehab her! Except Gidget didn't get better this time around. Mix in an amputation kerfuffle and a vet change, it's been established that Gidget is in need of surgery.

After speaking with and getting quotes from specialists from the area, I've decided to have Gidget's surgery with SouthPaws. Gidget is currently diagnosed as having medial patellar luxation or MPL, grade 3 and suspect to also have cruciate ligament damage, severity of which will remain unknown until operation occurs. We have pre-op bloodwork scheduled for Friday, September 11th and meet with our surgeon on Tuesday, September 15th to go over the nitty-gritty and scheduling.

The quoted price range of this surgery is $3200 - $4250 (high end max). This includes anesthesia, operation, post-op visit, and suture removal. Any additional funds raised will be put towards other expenses related to this operation including: consultation fee, pre-op bloodwork, xrays, and doggie physical therapy sessions and pain management.

OH, GIDGET!: She is invaluable as my ESA. She's been my lifeline through some very turbulent situations including 9 moves in 5 1/2 years. What a trooper! She let me 'cheat' on her for 5 years with all the neighborhood doggos that also needed some Arlee love! She has shared her home(s), bed/s, treats, toys and snuggle times with many fur-friends. What an accomplishment! She is the most loving, unconditional, silly sasspants of a dog once you are in her crew. I am so happy to be her momma and watch her grow!

It has been the most rewarding experience of my life to be filled with so much unconditional love and dog/cat hair. COVID-19 has shuttered 95% of my business since dogs are now living their best lives because their humans working from home AND restricted travel = no boarding. While this makes me SO happy, my $$$ flow to keep my fur-child happy and healthy is depleted. Please help your neighborhood dog walker and pet sitter keep her baby girl living her best life!
