Help Gillian Receive Life-saving Cancer Treatment

Donation protected
UPDATE: My mum has been able to start her treatment now. Having begun her targeted nutrition for two weeks she visited the hospital for her assessment. The results showed that her count had actually increased and she would be strong enough for a lower dose of chemotherapy!

She has currently had one session of chemotherapy but we are keen for her to build herself up enough to tolerate a higher dosage. We need to help her to fight this cancer! Any further support would be very much appreciated.

Read about my Mum’s experience in battling cancer below:

My Mum Gillian was diagnosed with Cancer of the Ovaries, Stomach, Colon and Liver, just before Christmas last year. Since then, our whole lives have fallen apart. My Mum was scheduled in for an emergency surgery at UCLH to remove two out of the four cancer masses. As a family we were more than prepared to support and help her through it to fight the cancer! Whilst in the operating theatre, she suffered a cardiac arrest, before she got the chance to even have the surgery. They resuscitated her and she was taken to the ICU and put on a ventilator. She has been in hospital ever since.

Recently she has woken up and is determined to get through this. Having been assessed, the doctors have now made us aware that they will be sending her home without treatment. In the meantime the cancer is spreading. As a family, we are eager to start my Mum’s recovery as soon as possible. In order for us to do this;
1. We have to make our home suitable to accommodate her needs so that she can: Use the bathroom facilities, access upstairs and move freely in the home environment etc.
2. She requires treatment to stop the cancer from spreading prior to any opportunity for chemotherapy. This alternative costs £1200 a month and will help to rebuild Gillian’s body with targeted nutrition over the initial course of five months.
3. Gillian needs all the care and support throughout this process. This is what the UCLH Doctors have stated: “Gillian will try to fight and do as much as she can, but we are concerned about her safety. If she were to be discharged today, she would not be able to have a bath or get into bed easily, and there is nowhere to put a bed downstairs. Concerns about impact on children at home especially 11 year old son.”

In fulfilling this, we will be giving my Mum the opportunity to gain back her strength, body weight and mobility. She has been refused treatment until she is strong enough. In order for her to undergo chemotherapy, she has been instructed by the doctors at UCLH to build herself back up to be “fit” for cancer treatment to save her life.

My Mum Gillian is; a Wife, loving Mother of three and an Essential Worker who facilitates housing for asylum seekers. She deserves the best chance to fight Cancer! She is such a pure, beautiful woman, always smiling, making jokes with such positive outlook on life. My Mum is always willing and ready to support anyone who needs help. This is your chance to help her in any way that you can.
