Help Ginger Dawdy with Her Fight Against Cancer

Hi everyone!

Not many of you may know, but our sweet Ginger has unfortunately been diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer.

She is being taken care of by some of the best at Duke, but has a bit of a road ahead of her.

I’ve know Ginger since I was 16, and on top of her contagious laugh, she’s always been the person to brighten a room. From teaching preschoolers, to waitressing, to now dealing with truck drivers, there’s nothing she hasn’t succeeded in.

I hate that this is the person who is having to go through this, but she of all people knows how to keep smiling and to keep fighting. She has her amazing husband, family, and fur baby Skipper by her side, along with all of us to support her.

Let’s help keep the positive vibes heading her way by helping how we can, and try to lighten the financial stresses they are to face.

To continue with what Alyssa has said, Ginger was diagnosed with Papillary Thyroid Cancer back in March. She has a great team at Duke and had surgery to remove her thyroid in July. We were all hopeful that surgery would be the end of it and she could begin her road to recovery. Unfortunately, half of the lymph nodes removed during the surgery came back as cancerous. This means there is a longer journey ahead with additional treatments, missed work, and obviously cost as well. She will undergo RAI treatment later this year, where she herself will become radioactive for a short period of time. Please go ahead and get the jokes ready :). Alyssa and I wanted to put this together to at least help with the financial burden associated with extensive treatments in her future.
