Help Giovani fight liver and kidney failure

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Lorena Moyano, and one of my dearest friends, Alessandra Escalante, back in Bolivia is going through a tough time. Her husband is fighting for his life. Alessandra needs to find the means to pay for the hospital bills as they must be paid in cash to continue his treatment. Alessandra and I have been friends since High School, and she is a beautiful person. She met the love of her life, Giovani Cabrera, while working together, and they have now shared their lives for over fifteen years and have a lovely thirteen-year-old son, Nicolas.

Giovani and his family live in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, but unfortunately, the options there are scarce for specialized care. Giovani's symptoms got worse quickly, and he was advised to travel to La Paz City immediately to consult with a specialist. His care is so specialized that there is only one private clinic in La Paz with the equipment and the medical expertise to provide the necessary care. Giovani had an obstruction in the biliary system and needed an Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP).

He was admitted to the hospital four weeks ago, and since Giovani has been treated with Endoscopic biliary prostheses several times. On February 2nd, a plastic biliary stent was placed, then on February 7th, he needed surgery as the stent needed to be replaced with a metallic one. Unfortunately, only days later, he required an ERCP again on February 10th and February 14th as his health was deteriorating fast. On February 21st, he needed an aspiration of the Liver.

A few days later, Giovani, developed pneumonia, kidney failure and chronic Hepatic Fibrosis.

On Sunday, February 27th, Giovani had internal bleeding, and another ERCP was needed. He had then a fourth prosthesis placed.

Giovani was placed in Dialysis for five days to combat his kidneys failure. He's now had four days of dialysis and is in intermediate care at the Clinic, with an unknown prognosis.

The doctors are now evaluating Giovani's serious liver condition to determine if he is a candidate for a liver transplant.

We ask all for your prayers for Giovani's recovery. Giovani needs to return home to be with his partner in life, son, friends and family that love him so much.

The costs of his care are now outrageous, and their insurance does not cover any of them.

Giovani is the sole income provider for this family, and this tragic situation, in addition to their pain, is creating great financial hardship for this dear family. Any contribution is extremely valuable. The currency conversion today from dollars to Bolivianos is at $6.81 Bolivianos per $1 USD. All funds donated will be sent to Alessandra Escalante.
