Help Give Bear One Final Adventure

Donation protected
Hi my name is Lauren and my dog Bear just moved from Boston to Denver 6 weeks ago. The move was suppose to be a grand adventure together and start a new life. Unfortunately, last week it was confirmed that Bear has stage 4 T-cell lymphoma. The news came as a shock because Bear's behavior did not give any indication he is terminally ill. He is still eating, dragging me on our daily 3 mile walk while greeting every human and dog with enthusiasm. The vet informed me because he is not displaying any symptoms he is an ideal candidate for chemotherapy, which I elected to proceed with. I feel it is my obligation as his mommy, master and best friend to maintain his current happy state for as long as possible. Although saying goodbye will not be easy, watching him suffer would be far worse.

Bear and I have been together for 11 years. He is the first dog I have ever had. His charming, mellow and non-vocal demeanor allowed me to integrate him into my life. He accompanied me to various jobs over the years, loved taking the commuter ferry to Boston and joining me on all my errands. People in the North End knew me because of Bear. It was like being the bodyguard for an A list celebrity. It brings me so much joy to watch the happiness he brings others. The love I have for him is unlike any I have known before because to him, I am the best.

During my divorce my ex-husband wanted to take Bear from me. We were told if we could not decide, ownership would be determined by a coin toss. In my heart I knew Bear would be better off with me. On the day of the trial our attorneys were negotiating Bear. After an hour of back and forth I yelled across the hall "what is your number?" The paperwork was signed and on the elevator ride I turned to him and said "the difference between you and me is, you put a price on Bear when he is priceless." When I got home held him so tight and cried.

Unfortunately, battling cancer comes at a high cost. It is challenging to enjoy what time we have left while worrying about how I will fund his treatment. I am setting my pride aside and asking for your help. My goal is to reach $5,000.00 by December 31st, which will pay for a portion of his treatment. My ask is this: if Bear or I have made you laugh, smile, or brought joy to your life, please donate. If you have never met us and you just love dogs, please donate. If you can sympathize with being single and having a dog as a best friend, please donate. If 250 people donate $20 we will meet our goal. I understand that this past year has been financially challenging for many and if a monetary donation is not feasible, please add us to your prayers. I want to give Bear an epic last few months filled with long walks, swimming and snuggles to thank him for always being there for me. It would be the greatest Christmas and 36th birthday gift.

Love,
Lauren & Bear Mosher
