Help Give Choo Choo a 3rd Chance at Life!

We need your help to save Choo Choo!

This beautiful boy was slated to be euthanized in California May of this year. He had bitten a man that walked onto his property and due to regulations in the State now could not be adopted.

Thanks to a team of volunteers that could not let Choo Choo’s life be ended, they contacted No-Kill Rescue’s from California to Florida and when we got the call, we said yes!

He was driven across Country and quickly became the superstar of H.A.L.O.

In just a couple of months he found himself adopted and living the spoiled life in a home, until fate would have it he was returned for a sudden medical emergency in his new family.

Upon being returned, we noticed him passing foreign objects in his stool. Wrappers and plastic… assuming he had gotten into the trash at home we monitored him, but all appeared to pass without issue until last week.

We rushed him to the emergency room for bloating or an intestinal blockage, we were not sure which, but his life was on the line. His stomach had flipped but thanks to a fast-acting team and a great surgeon, Choo Choo recovered and seemed to be out of the woods.

He came back a week ago today and was sailing through recovery until this morning. His lethargy returned, he wouldn’t eat and his stomach looked distended again.

Back to the emergency clinic he left and we received the phone call you never want to get… his intestines had a perforation and he was septic.

The call was to ask… Do we pursue this very high-risk surgery, that could cost upwards of $10,000, or do we let him go?

While we have exceeded every part of our budget this year, I hope to never have to base this life decision from an aspect of financial fear. Since 2006 when H.A.L.O. had nothing, I have always said yes and today was no different.

With a pit in my stomach for Choo Choo’s life, and a sickening feeling to ask once again of you… our donors, for help… here I am.

Anything will help! Including prayers that this magnificent boy gets a third chance at life!
