Help Give A Home Full Of Hope To At-Risk Children
Tax deductible
Having grown up as a teen in foster care, I have a passion to help children in the Alabama foster care system. In Alabama, there are 6,000 foster children but only 2,350 homes which are licensed to accept foster children. Becoming a foster child — whether from neglect or abuse -- is a difficult emotional challenge. These at-risk children need a supportive and nurturing environment while the process of family reunification is pursued — a process which can often be very lengthy and sometimes impossible.
In Cullman and surrounding counties, there are not enough homes for all of the foster children. In Cullman County alone there are approximately 170 foster children with around 40 licensed homes. Sometimes siblings must be separated and distant homes make family visits difficult. I want to pursue my passion for helping these children by purchasing a home in Cullman Alabama — a place where I can care for these at-risk children, a place for foster children of any age, and a place that can enable my adoption of several children who cannot be reunited with their families. For the teens that have graduated and are having to age out of the foster system, a focus on independent living programs (ILPs) will aid their long-term success. My long-term vision is to provide tiny homes to those teens who graduate and need some sort of independence, but yet still need guidance and direction.
I have been a house parent of a local group home — a 24/7 foster home and emergency care facility in Cullman — for nearly 2 years. I have a degree in accounting and have obtained not-for-profit status for The House of Hope for Children. I am plugged in to the community, I understand the resources that are available to help feed and clothe the children that are placed under my care, and I have the empathy, the experience, and the heart that can provide a loving and supportive homelife.
Please consider helping me to purchase a home where I can help these at-risk children and stop the destructive cycle of moving children from home to home during their critical time of development. I know in my heart that this home community can and will inspire those trying to overcome their past. With the help and support of you, these children will have a new chance, a new hope, and a future full of love and accomplishment! Your donation to House of Hope for Children is tax deductible and your donation will give hope to an at-risk child.
