Help give Jon back his independence.
Donation protected
Back in December 2019 Jon was diagnosed with Dercums disease; a rare disorder where painful lipomas grow within loose connective tissue.
Within a matter of months, he went from an active 34 year old - regularly running 5ks, practising jiu jitsu and wrestling, to being rendered almost immobile and spending the majority or his time stuck in our living room laying on the sofa.
Fast forward three years and we were lucky enough to be housed in an adapted property that Jon can move around safely. He continues to have carers that come into the house to help
him twice a day with medication and personal needs. Unfortunately Jon’s condition continues to progress faster than any of us hoped and we have reached a point where mobility on his arms is quickly reducing, making it incredibly difficult for him to propel himself in his wheelchair. He can rarely leave the house without full support and has no option to live independently while the rest of the house are at school and work.
We have spent hours researching and have found a little contraption that has the potential to change Jon’s life and give him the freedom and independence he deserves.
We are asking for your help to raise money to help with costs towards a set of Firefly 2.5 mobility wheel attachments and battery.
We know and understand times are hard, and every donation would me mean the absolute world to us.
