Help give Kya a pain free life.

Hello, my name is April and this is my 3-year-old Rottweiler, Kya. A few months ago, she developed a limp in her left hind leg. We figured she had tweaked it while she was playing and it would be okay in a few days. That was not the case, so we made a vet appointment. After examining her and doing X-rays, our vet could not be certain of the problem. You could manipulate her leg in all directions and she never indicated pain. But something was definitely wrong because she held that foot off the ground most times. Our vet suggested taking her to a clinic that offered laser therapy along with other treatments for torn ligaments in hopes that would help. Without an MRI, there’s really no way to know for sure what’s wrong exactly. MRIs are crazy expensive, so we opted out but went ahead with the laser treatment. Six or so weeks and $1500 later, nothing has changed. She holds her foot off the ground more than ever. Other than a procedure called a TPLO, the only other option is amputation. The surgery starts at $5000. I haven’t asked about the cost of amputation because I didn’t want to even think about it.
Right now, Kya takes daily pain meds that appear to not work well. Giving her pills is almost impossible, so it’s a challenge every day. We’ve tried every trick in the book.
I hesitated to start a GoFundMe for my dog. It just seemed not right somehow. But her pain is getting worse and it’s not fair to her to not try to find the money needed to fix her. We’ve invested a lot of time, love, and money into her in the 3 years we’ve had her. She’s the most expensive free dog I’ve ever had.
If you can help, I’d be eternally grateful. But I won’t take it personally if you don’t. In this day and age we are living in now, the future is unclear and holding onto all your resources is important.
Thank you for reading this so far. I’m open to answering any questions you may have.
