Hello, my name is Sharon, and I am a friend and colleague of Rick Delgado. For the past eight years, we've worked together at Universal, where Rick has dedicated nearly 35 years as a committed and diligent employee. Sadly, Rick was recently laid off unexpectedly, at no fault of his own, and now faces an urgent health crisis. Rick was scheduled for vital dental surgery the day after he was let go but unfortunately had to postpone due to the high costs of the procedure.

Rick has always been the heart of our workplace, deeply caring and continuously going beyond the call of duty to support others—even prioritizing their needs over his own. After losing his family at a young age, Rick found a family in his colleagues and through his extensive volunteer work. Beloved by all his coworkers, he has a genuine passion for helping others, which is evident in every interaction and every initiative he leads at work, from ensuring our workspace is comfortable and well-stocked to fostering a safe environment for all via his emergency preparedness.

Beyond his professional life, Rick has dedicated over 30 years to volunteering, significantly impacting communities through roles like teaching at Universal's Emergency Services CERT program and being Santa for the LA Toy Run. He's also supported various charities, including the Rolling Deep 4 Charities, the Rosarito Children’s Charity, the Variety Club-Children’s Charity and initiatives like the Blanket Run for the LA Mission. Rick is the type of guy who always keeps pet food and an emergency kit in his car just in case he sees a hungry stray animal or a person in need.

Rick has positively impacted many lives through his unwavering commitment and kindness. Now, following an accident that damaged his jaw and unsuccessful treatments, Rick urgently needs costly dental surgery. We've set a fundraising goal of $15,000, based on the estimated costs of $8,000 - $15,000. Any additional funds raised will support Rick as he transitions into his next career.
