Help Give Veteran Thomas Steffey The Burial He Prayed For.

Burial vs. Cremation? A very good friend, Tiffiney Poovey, had a good friend staying at her home after he lost his due to back tax issues. He was a veteran, was on disability after having open-heart surgery, COPD, and other health issues. When we were hit by Hurricane Helene and lost power for 10 days, it took everything just to keep gas in the generator so Tommy could use his oxygen concentrator. He passed away last Tuesday, the 15th. His wish is to have a burial and to put his mother's ashes in his coffin, as they were forced to go with cremation because of a lack of funds. He had no assets, no savings, no life insurance. He does have very little VA benefits that will reimburse you after you pay cash out of pocket. Well, that is where my dear friend Tiffiney needs help. She is trying to honor his last wish and do the cheapest burial she can get so he can be buried. He has a plot already. But, after the damage and lost work due to Hurricane Helene and the fact she works in home health care and through no fault of her own has in the last 6 months gone from 40 plus hours to 20 hours a week. She is a single mom and does everything on her own with no help. Tommy has a sister left who was just put out of work permanently due to health issues and has no way to come up with funds to help. SO I AM ASKING LOOK DEEP INSIDE YOUR HEART AND HELP TIFFINEY GIVE HER FRIEND A BURIAL. I think the fact he served his country, worked at Broughton Hospital until he had heart surgery that we should pull together. At this point, if she can't come up with the funds in the next 3 to 4 days, we assume the state would have to take care of his remains. No one should have to turn a loved one over to something like that. Please help send THOMAS L. STEFFEY, age 61, home to be with God and his mother in Heaven.
