Help Glen Weimer in His Journey to Recovery

Donation protected
Hello,
I have to share some news about a dear friend, Glen Weimer. You may know him as the compassionate health practitioner who has helped countless individuals heal and recover here on Nantucket.

Unfortunately, Glen recently shared with me some shocking news - he must undergo triple bypass heart surgery. As you can imagine, this news has left him in a vulnerable position, and he needs our support.

While Glen does have insurance, the road to recovery will not be easy. He will require a minimum of two, possibly three months of rehabilitation after his surgery. This is where we can make a difference.

I urge you to read Glen's heartfelt letter below for a few minutes. It outlines his journey and explains how we can contribute to his recovery. Any help, big or small, will go a long way in easing the financial burden that Glen now faces.

Let's rally together as a community and show Glen the love and support he has always shown us. Together, we can make a valuable impact on his recovery journey.

Thank you for your time and generosity.

Warm regards,

Dear friends,

I have reached a point in my life where I need your help. It's challenging for me to ask for assistance and admit how much I'm struggling, but I'm grateful for the encouragement to start a GoFundMe page.

Last December, I had to leave Nantucket due to losing my housing. It was heartbreaking to leave my home of 25 years, but I saw an opportunity to enroll in a massage certification program in Albuquerque. This program will allow me to practice and teach bodywork anywhere in the country in the future.

This summer, I returned to Nantucket to see clients and explore the housing situation. While here, I scheduled doctor visits to address the severe chest pains I've been experiencing since being in New Mexico.

To cut the story short, I underwent a cardiac stress test, which I failed. Subsequently, I had a cardiac catheter procedure to assess my heart's arteries. Unfortunately, the blockages were so extensive that stents couldn't be placed, and I was referred for cardiac bypass surgery.

Heart issues are prevalent in my family, and I took a different path toward health after witnessing my father undergo bypass surgery many years ago. However, it seems that genetics has caught up with me.

I met with top specialists at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, who explained the severity of my condition. Two main arteries are completely blocked, and the third artery is blocked 50 to 75%, where it forks into three branches.

Despite the challenging news, both the cardiologist and cardiac surgeon have agreed to give me time to raise enough funds for my recovery treatment. This means I'll need to be out of work for 2 to 3 months and travel to the Cape for cardiac rehab multiple times a week. Ideally, I aim for a late October operation date, although I'm starting to experience shortness of breath with minimal exertion.

I never expected to be in this situation, but I'm reaching out to my dear friends and loved ones for support. Any help you can provide, whether it's financial or home-cooked heart-healthy meals during my recovery, would mean the world to me.

Thank you for your love and support. I am truly grateful.

Sincerely,
Glen
