Help Goose beat FIP

Donation protected
Hi everyone!

Gooseberry or as we call her, Goose, has recently been diagnosed with wet FIP. Goose is a delightful, happy and once playful kitty who is only six months old. She is the type of cat to always be waiting by the door for you when you get home, talk to you for attention and she will even sit pretty for some pets! She has a littermate, Fig, who does not share her diagnosis at this time but definitely seems be missing playing with his sister. She also has a dog housemate she loves more than anything and a few other cats she shares the house with, as well as two parents who love her very much and don't want to lose such a sweet girl! She's one of the sweetest cats you will ever meet!

FIP is otherwise known as Feline Infectious Peritonitis, a normally always fatal and heartbreaking condition. The version that Goose has is considered the wet form due to the excess amount of fluid built up in her abdomen that can lead to labored breathing, neurological symptoms and death. She is also lethargic, has experienced a tremendous amount of weight loss and has a fluctuating fever. Overall - the initial virus has infected her white blood cells and her immune system has gone completely haywire!

However, there is one treatment (injectable medication) that has been known to be 85% successful in treating both versions of FIP - the downside is that you are NOT able to get it from your regular vet office, nor cover the costs with things such as CareCredit or Scratchpay which can be wonderful resources for vet care. It has to be purchased out of country. Due to this - all costs are out of pocket, harder to get and more expensive than they used to be. It also is incredibly time sensitive so without treatment, cats with wet FIP can pass in only a matter of days, weeks and in some rarer cases - months.

The medication you can get is an 84 day (12 week) course of daily injections from out of the country, alongside full bloodwork every 30 days to make sure everything is going well. After the course of meds there is then an additional 84 day observation period to make sure that relapse does not happen.

Due to this, the costs range from $2500-$3500 which covers the medications, shipping, lab work and any other supportive treatment that may or may not be needed.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and please share and/or donate if you can!
Thank you!
