Help Gord Browns Gan Ice Pad Vision
Donation protected
In 2008 Gord with his vision brought together most of the Gananoque 1000 Island accommodation and attraction businesses together to found The Thousand Islands Accommodation Partners (TIAP). TIAP is a not for profit foundation with the purpose of promoting the 1000 Islands region through marketing, events, as well as some infrastructure and local philanthropic causes.
In July of 2017 the organization in recognition of their founding partners decided to undertake a community enhancement project.
Gord was quick to suggest that an outdoor refrigerated Ice Pad constructed in the Town of Gananoque would be the perfect project.
It was decided that the project could be completed in stages with the first component being the refrigerated pad and boards with a projected cost of $300,000 and 2nd phase roof and change rooms with a projected cost of $400,000.
At this point the TIAP board allocated $100,000 toward the start of this project.
Since July of 2017 consultation has taken place between TIAP, The Town of Gananoque and TheTownship of Leeds and 1000 Islands. A preliminary site has been chosen adjacent to the Lou Jeffries Arena in Gananoque.
Gord Brown during his tenure as Member of Parliament, through his Hockey Night In Leeds Grenville fundraiser, helped raise close to 1 million dollars for charity in his riding.
Shortly after playing hockey in Ottawa, Gord was suddenly taken from us, a victim of a heart attack in his office on Parliament Hill on Wednesday May 2, 2018.
Fundraising has begun and all money raised in Gord's name will be added to the TIAP $100,000 donation to the Ice pad.
Please help Gord's vision become reality.
