Help Gordon Recover From the Fire

Donation protected
On behalf of the Fordyce Family, please contribute as you're able to help Altadena artist, Gordon Fordyce, whose livelihood was devastated by the Eaton Canyon fire. His son, Ian, describes the harrowing event in heartbreaking detail:

Dear Community,

My father, Gordon Fordyce, lost his home, his music studio - everything - to the horrific Eaton Canyon fire. His livelihood was completely devastated; I am kindly asking for your support in the return to his livelihood and peace of mind.

As you can imagine, there's so much trauma to rebound from. When evacuation orders were escalated, our family joined dad at the senior hospital located right at the base of Eaton Canyon where his mom, my grandmother, was living. With the help of firefighters, police officers, and our neighbors, we were thankfully able to battle the terrifying winds and flying embers to safely evacuate her, and all the seniors there who couldn’t help themselves, to a nearby 7-Eleven which graciously served as basecamp. Dad was heroically integral in this frontline effort and stayed to save every patient from the embers as the back of the building burned.

While the fire continued into our neighborhoods, our family evacuated to a friend’s home who so kindly welcomed us in as if it were our own. We woke up to the news that, along with so many other homes and businesses in our community, my dad’s home was a total loss.

For dad, Altadena was his safe haven and his sanctuary. He poured all his love and care into his community and worked there as a music editor and engineer in his home studio.

By the grace of God, we all survived. And now we're committed to helping dad get back on his feet so he may regain a sense of security and get back to the work that is so dear to his being and heart. Opportunities in his industry are on the rise, so time is of extraordinary essence.

Funds raised will go toward all his basic necessities (interim rents, utilities, clothes, toiletries...) and access to essential studio equipment including a laptop, soundboard, and other audio gear he immediately needs for work.

Thank you all for your concern and to everyone who has been helping already. We are so grateful for your continued support, it truly means the world to us all.

With love and deep gratitude,
Ian, Will, and Gordon Fordyce
