help Grace pay for university and cancer treatment

Cancer sucks balls, and the American health care system sucks arguably just as many, which is why we're raising funds to help Grace as she prepares to start her Master's of Theology in World Christianity at Edinburgh Theological Seminary in September.

As you may know, she was diagnosed with Von Hippel-Lindau disease (VHL) a rare form of genetic cancer last year, which meant her plans for further studies got completely derailed. Some of you might have been following her Cancer Diaries on Facebook yourselves, and if not, you can see exactly how hard it's been on her there. Since diagnosis, she's been through multiple tests and procedures, including the removal of one kidney, and because of the aforementioned ball sucking, costs have been high.

Although she's managed to secure financing for some of her tests and treatments, some things she's already had to pay out of pocket for. Obviously, she hasn't been able to work much while she's been in treatment and recovering, so this has taken a chunk of change she hadn't anticipated and is set to take plenty more yet, and she's struggling to finance her Master's. She's had a pretty rubbish year, and taking a little bit of the financial burden might make the next one better.

Any help you can give will go towards covering her outstanding and future medical bills and helping with tuition costs and expenses while she's in Scotland. The breakdown of costs is as follows:

Tuition: 11k
Housing: 13k
Food: 3k
Transport/commuting: 1500
Books, school supplies and other uni fees: 2k
Cost to travel to the UK and back: 1500

It's an ambitious goal, but the £32,000 is what it will realistically cost her to get through her course while she's still recovering and dealing with the fact that VHL is a lifelong diagnosis. Although she's now considered in remission, frankly, cancer's going to continue to suck balls on a semi-regular basis for the rest of her life.

I know there are a lot of people in need at the moment, but anything you can spare will be greatly appreciated. And hey, if Grace's past experiences are anything to go by, there'll probably be some weird, wonderful, and highly entertaining stories that come out of this next phase of her life!
