Hello,
I am Grandma Najah Abu Nada from palestine - Gaza Strip, I hope to raise the necessary funding to evacuate my family and grandchildren from the terrifying war in Gaza to safety, in order to get to safety we have to pay the coordination cost of the travel agency in Egypt. These fees are $5,000 per adult person and $2,500 per minor, we will also need to cover the costs of living and accommodation in Egypt for not less than 6 months.
The ongoing war in Gaza, lasting over six months with no resolution, has led to a dire humanitarian crisis. Security is absent, casualties are high, and the region faces famine, with over half of Gaza's population on the brink, mass displacement affecting 75% of the population, and a collapsing healthcare system, with 84% of medical facilities damaged or destroyed, requiring urgent international intervention.
My family is made up of eight members from Palestine - Gaza Strip:
- Including myself, Grandma Najah Abu Nada, aged 65, who suffers from high blood pressure, and my husband Mohammed Abu Nada, aged 73, who faces health issues and a disc problem in his back. also suffers from high blood pressure, in addition to White water in his eyes that prevents him from seeing clearly, and prostate enlargement, which poses a real challenge for him, especially given the constant congestion in the bathroom and the limited availability of medical treatment and follow-up care. Our livelihood has been disrupted due to the war, leading to our displacement and the damage to our poultry farm, where we used to raise chickens.
- My daughters Asmahan and Fatima Zahra Abu Nada used to work in the field of voice-over and dubbing through freelance platforms, establishing a source of income for themselves. However, the devastating war came and caused them to lose their equipment (laptops, recording devices, and studios), disrupting their livelihoods.
- My son Osama Abu Nada and his wife, Folla Abu Nada, were diligent individuals working in agricultural guidance for farmers and livestock breeders. However, everything came to a halt with the war, as the entire agricultural sector collapsed, leaving them without a source of income to support their family, which includes two innocent young children, Adnan (4 years old) and Hassan (2 years old). They found themselves in a constant state of fear due to the repercussions of the war and the continuous bombardment of the Gaza Strip.
I vividly recall the fear that engulfed us every moment we spent in our home, the deafening sound of bombs piercing our ears as they fell around us, tearing apart the neighborhood we called home. It was nothing short of a miracle that we managed to escape, seeking refuge in a UN school in northern Gaza. We did not find a place to stay except the stairs due to the severe crowding of displaced people. However, even the schools were not spared from the bombings and destruction. We were once again forced to flee, this time to another school in Rafah. The journey there was perilous, a very long distance on foot due to the absence of transportation, every step fraught with danger as we navigated through crowded streets filled with families fleeing for their lives. Unable to pass through the passage created by the occupation on the first day, we were left with no choice but to sleep on the street. I will never forget that night when child Hassan, only two years old, cried himself to sleep from extreme thirst. We had nothing to offer him, so he tried to quench his thirst with my dry saliva in a desperate attempt to ease his suffering, but to no avail.
My dears, let me tell you about little Adnan, who has been deeply affected by this war. At just 4 years old, he's already facing challenges with speech and expressing himself fully, which makes it hard for him to connect with other children. Before all this turmoil started, we were actively working with a speech therapist to help Adnan overcome these difficulties. But then the war came, disrupting everything. Living in such cramped quarters, with 45 relatives sharing a single room, has added another layer of difficulty. Some people around us, perhaps due to their stress and frustration, have been unkind to Adnan when he cries to express himself. It's heartbreaking to see him struggle in this environment, especially when he's faced with bullying and even abuse, this caused his parents to endure great psychological harm. The war has taken away not just our homes and security but also the chance for Adnan to receive the help he needs. It's a heavy burden on all of us, but especially on him, as he tries to navigate this challenging situation at such a young age. Please help Adnan move to a safe area so he can enjoy his rights as a child from care and education.
My heart aches when I think about my daughter Fatima Zahra's struggles. She was a talented graphic designer and voice-over artist, but her livelihood was abruptly cut off by this war. Fatima Zahra's dreams and aspirations were shattered, along with so many others, due to the chaos and destruction brought by the war. It's been incredibly difficult for her to cope with the loss of her career and the uncertainty of the future. She had plans to travel to Jordan to be with her fiancé, but the war made it impossible. Please help her evacuate from Gaza, reunite with her fiancé in Jordan, and regain her opportunity to work.
My daughter Asmahan's pain is equally heartbreaking. The war forced her to be separated from her husband, who was displaced in another governorate. This separation has been incredibly challenging for her, as she longs to be by his side during these difficult times. Adding to her distress is the absence of any source of income. With the war disrupting normal life and opportunities, Asmahan has been left without any means to support herself or contribute financially. It's a situation that weighs heavily on her, as she navigates the uncertainties and hardships brought by this war. Please help her evacuate from Gaza and regain her work as a talented voice-over artist.
The war had a profound impact on the availability and variety of food, as well as the basic reliance on canned goods from international aid organizations. With the collapse of market supervision systems, prices skyrocketed to insane levels, reaching 8 to 10 times their normal rates. This situation drastically affected children and the elderly in our family, as they faced shortages of essential nutrients and struggled with the high cost of necessities. The lack of access to fresh and diverse foods took a toll on their health and well-being, exacerbating the already challenging circumstances brought about by the war.
The pollution and diseases spread like wildfire, and our healthcare system crumbled under the weight of the destruction. Imagine the devastation of seeing our infrastructure and sewage networks in ruins, with garbage piling up everywhere. Our shelters, like the schools we sought refuge in, were never meant to house so many people. Can you imagine it? Over 1600 souls crammed into the school which was a space meant for far fewer, with my own family squeezed into a room with 45 relatives. The tragedy didn't stop there. Cleanliness became a luxury we could hardly afford, and water was as precious as gold. We found ourselves carrying water from afar, risking contamination and illness just to meet our basic needs. And when someone fell ill, getting them to a hospital became a Herculean task, navigating through polluted conditions and overcrowded facilities.
The difficulties of meeting basic needs in Rafah amidst population congestion, scarce supplies in markets, and the need to stand in long queues are immense. Often, we fail to fulfill our needs despite our efforts, as the demand outweighs the available resources. The situation requires enduring long hours of waiting, which adds to the strain and challenges we face daily. The struggle to access essential items becomes a constant battle, leaving us returning empty-handed at times, unable to meet our necessities.
Estimate of the fund (50,800 $):
The travel cost through agencies from Gaza to Egypt is 5000 per adult person, and $2,500 per minor:
- Cost of fees to travel from Gaza 6 adult persons * 5,000 = 30,000 $
- Cost of fees to travel from Gaza 2 children * 2,500 = 5,000 $
- Cost of living in Egypt 1200 $ per month * 6 = 7,200 $ per year
- Costs of repurchasing voiceover equipment = 7,000
- Cost of fees for GFM 2.9% plus $0.30 = 1600 $
To all compassionate hearts,
We are reaching out to you in a time of dire need and desperation. The war has left us with no means of income, pushing us into a state of uncertainty and insecurity. Our family is struggling to survive, lacking the necessities and a safe place to call home. We humbly request your assistance in facilitating temporary travel to Egypt and providing accommodation there until the war subsides. This would allow us to regain our livelihoods and rebuild what has been destroyed by the occupation. Your generosity and kindness would make a world of difference for us, offering a glimmer of hope in these dark times.
Do not underestimate even a small amount ($5 or $10). It may make a difference and save us from this tragedy we are living through.
