Help Gretchen While She Heals!
Donation protected
Hi everyone! My name is Gretchen and I live in the greater Boston, MA area. I am conducting this GoFundMe fundraiser for myself so that I may continue fulfilling my financial responsibilities after sustaining a broken wrist on my dominant arm in a fall on May 4th that required surgery (plate and screws) to fix, and am unemployed*. I'll know better this Thursday a timeline for when I can use both hands for typing--I prefer to work! In my line of work--academic advising, program administration, and administrative assisting--I need both hands. Composing this message using Dictation for Gmail is fabulous--but I doubt I could use it long-term in an office :)
I am seeking to initially cover two months of my apartment rent, life insurance, storage, and necessary monthly expenses, including the first medical bills to come through. No funds raised will be spent on luxuries! I may keep this fundraiser open as the medical bills come in and will provide updates at least a couple of times a week.
*I'm working with an excellent recruiter right now - - unfazed by this accident and more positive than I am right now!--but I need to keep ahead of financial disaster. Asking for financial assistance is difficult. I had the opportunity last week to interview, in person and virtually, for two promising positions at two local universities: but surgery beckoned!
I am grateful for the State Insurance I do have now, but it will not cover all of the medical bills that will be coming.
And as many of you know, I'm a black and white film and darkroom photographer , and am always printing. As a token of my sincere appreciation for any donation of any amount, please accept a 5 x 7 print that I would like to make available for your thoughtfulness. This photograph is printed on Ilford archival Art 300 stock: it's a beautiful, warm-tone, cotton rag paper! I can either mail you your print within a month; or you can pick it up at the Washington Street Studios and Gallery in Somerville on Saturday May 27th between Noon and 4:00 p.m. Just please let me know which you prefer!
Although I will learn next week whether or not I am eligible for unemployment insurance, based on the weekly amount I have been apprised of, that amount will not cover expenses. I just really want to keep from going down a rabbit hole.
Sincerely and with gratitude, Thank you! Gretchen
