Help Griff Move Across the Country to Be with Her Girlfriend

Hi! My name's Griffin! Since last fall, I've been actively trying to save up money to move out of Kentucky. I was born and raised in KY, but with the state of politics here, I've realized that it's getting less and less safe for me to live here as a trans woman. So I've been making plans to move in with my girlfriend in California. I've never really lived outside of KY, and the farthest I've moved has been from my small hometown to the city I'm currently living in. It's a big jump for me, but I'm ready for it!

I did what I could to save up money during the fall. However, in January this year, my apartment complex caught on fire during one of the coldest weeks we've had in the state in quite a while. The fire destroyed the transformer room, knocking out the power, and ended up causing the apartment to be condemned due to the extreme temps. I lived out of a hotel for a week or so while I worked on finding another place to live on short notice. In addition, due to a combination of the smoke exposure from the fire and me catching COVID several times in the past, I ended up with 2 severe cases of bronchitis and subclinical asthma that required several urgent care visits and almost an ER visit due to me having difficulty breathing. Naturally, all of this, combined with the cost of my Crohn's disease meds, drained my savings dry. Since then, I've been trying to save what I could, but with my new place being slightly more expensive than my previous one, it's been extremely difficult for me.

After doing some estimates, I settled on 3k to be what I'd need to feel comfortable going into this move. The estimated costs of shipping my stuff, shipping my car/driving across the country (still undecided on which is best), part of the first month's rent, etc. ended up falling around there. At the moment, we're planning for the move to happen around the middle or end of July when my lease at my current place ends.

I've been wanting to move to a safer state for a long time now, and this is my chance. I want to start a life where I can not only be with the person I love but also exist as the person I want to be. If you can help at all, I'd be extremely grateful!
