Help Gucci’s Family Heal After Tragic Loss

On December 30th, 2024, our beloved friend, mother, and community advocate, Christina Blount—known lovingly as Gucci—was tragically taken from us, murdered outside her home. This unthinkable loss has left her family and our community heartbroken.

Gucci was a fighter with an enormous heart. I first met her 10 years ago at Shelter House, where she started as a client and eventually became a dedicated employee. She overcame countless challenges, always working hard to provide a better life for her children. She was a force for good—helping others find warmth, safety, and hope.

Gucci’s love for her six children and her three grandchildren was unmatched. Her children were her world:

Now, this family is left to pick up the pieces, and they need our help.

Why We’re Raising Funds

Gucci’s children, who are part of the Iowa City Community School District, witnessed this horrific tragedy firsthand. As they face the unimaginable task of rebuilding their lives, this family is in urgent need of support to begin the healing process and rebuild their lives.

1. Grief Counseling – Professional support for Gucci’s children and extended family to process this devastating loss.

2. Relocation Assistance – The family is unable to remain in the apartment where this tragedy occurred. A new home will allow them to start fresh, away from the constant reminders of this horrific event.

3. School Support – With the kids returning to school after the holidays, they’ll need supplies, resources, and emotional care to help them regain a sense of normalcy.

4. Basic Necessities – Clothing, food, and household items as the family navigates this overwhelming transition.

A Legacy of Love

Gucci touched so many lives. Whether it was helping someone find shelter during a cold night or showing up to support community events, she was always there to lend a hand. Now it’s our turn to honor her memory by lifting up her family.
