Help Gugan to Fight Leukemia (Blood cancer)

Donation protected
This is an urgent appeal to help a Boston based young Indian professional with wife and an infant daughter in India currently in a health crisis. Gugan (30) moved to Boston to pursue his Masters in Data Analytics at Northeastern University and was about to start a job when he found out that he has a variant of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) - a rare condition of blood cancer. He is being treated at Beth Israel Deaconess hospital (BIDMC) since February 11, 2022.  Currently at BIDMC he is undergoing chemo therapy to eliminate  leukemia cells before a bone marrow transplant. Survival rates are low if this is not treated immediately.

Since Gugan moved recently to the US and with studies, he has not built any community around him.  His condition and desperate calls from his family in India brought together a group of acquaintances in Boston and relatives in US who are taking care of his immediate needs.  The expectation is that he needs to be treated aggressively for sometime to improve his chance of survival.  He would have to move in and out of the hospital as needed when the first round of treat hopefully goes well.  We expect the treatment and support would have to provide at least until end of 2023.

We have no doubt that Gugan is in really good hands in terms of treatment at BIDMC. However, this is going to require financial help to support his treatment, bring one of his family members to be with him to support emotionally through his recovery.

We are reaching to our community to help support:
1) treatment incidentals while we are attempting to get MassHealth approved
2) accommodation and logistics for himself and one of his family members
3) any other expenses such as medicines and other travel expenses.

Gugan is bright and strong willed.  But he has neither the support of former / prospective part-time employer nor he has savings to afford this by himself.

A GoFundMe is organized by Gugan’s family and well-wishers to help raise money.  All the money you donate will directly go towards helping Gugan and his family to support Gugan’s needs.  We are hoping the community comes together to save Gugan in his challenge of his lifetime.   Hope and despair cannot co-exist. Only one will remain.  Gugan is hopeful.  We wish that our community will give meaning to that hope.  Please contribute whatever you can AND please help forward this message or post this on your social media pages.
