Help Guy Horton and Family Start Over After Fire

I'm Guy Horton, and as crazy as it sounds, we are literally starting over again after losing everything in the Palisades Fire. We lived in our 2-bedroom apartment for 20 years (photo above) under rent control and are now facing the challenges of finding and setting up a new home (and new everything) for our family and 2 cats. We were in one of the apartment buildings on Sunset Blvd near the center of the fire zone. We didn't have insurance. We thought we might escape it, but the winds picked up. We feel so fortunate to have made it out safely and are looking to regain stability and write the next chapter.

Of course, so many things are irreplaceable: all the special crafts and art projects our girls made since they were little, old family photos and works of art, my grandfather's medals, my dad's barometer, things acquired when I lived in China, rare books and records, childhood things, and other family treasures we hoped to pass on to our daughters. All the things that mark the passage of time and build memories, things passed down from generation to generation. We were the keepers of all this after our parents had passed away many years ago.

This fundraiser can't replace any of that. But it will help us start over. Where to begin? This will help us build a new "home" in every sense of the word.

It's hard to describe. We are just grateful for all the love and support we are receiving. And time will heal.
