Help Gwen Rebuild After Fire Loss
Donation protected
We all know what has been happening over this past devastating week. And we all know someone who has lost a home in these unprecedented fires. Likely, we know many people who have simply lost this week. And as much as we like to say material goods can be re-bought and a house can be rebuilt, a home is just so much more than that. It’s one’s safe space, refuge; a place to fully be oneself without judgement. A space to celebrate and grow relationships with friends and family. And we know how hard it is to even be fortunate enough to put whatever savings we’ve earned over the many years to have a chance at establishing roots in this town. It’s near impossible! Gwen has worked hard over many years, renting for long time, in order to have an opportunity as she did a few years back to put in for her first home. And when she finally made it happen, she wasn’t even able to reap the fruits of her labor for two years before it and many others were decimated over these past few days. Unfortunately, I can’t account for everyone, but I can for Gwen. She selflessly came to my time of need years ago and I want to be here for hers. We all know her affable nature, someone who’s down for pretty much anything, who always has a smile on her face. Homeowners insurance is a challenge, to say the least, and it’s likely years before Gwen will see anything tangible benefits like a re-build happen. On top of all that, she has to pay a mortgage on a house that no longer exists. Like a lot of Angelenos at this time, she and her pup Cassie could use a little help. So any little bit will do. And even if you can or can’t monetarily donate, donate your time and send her a message. I know she’d appreciate any words. She’ll get through this, as we all will, but any encouragement and support along the way makes life just that much better in these tough times. Thanks all.
