Help Hadeel's Family Survive and Rebuild

Donation protected
I first met Hadeel in April of this year when I was visiting Cairo from New York and delivering aid to families who had recently evacuated. Her husband had reached out to make sure that his wife and kids who had evacuated Gaza had what they needed after escaping with nothing but their lives. Hadeel is a brilliant, kind and creative person, the young mother of three children who is struggling to survive on her own. She was a physical therapist at Al-Shifa hospital before it was completely destroyed by the occupation, killing so many of her friends and colleagues.

Hadeel has had one home after the other destroyed by the occupation. Her entire extended family is living in tents. Before getting to Cairo her youngest daughter’s hair was falling out and her eldest almost lost her eyesight because of starvation, disease and the dangerous conditions of the camps in Rafah. While crossing the border into Cairo, her husband was forced to stay behind so Hadeel and the children could cross. And now the border is closed - indefinitely.

She wrote to me today “I am alone without my family. This is a difficult thing. My feelings always hurt me, but I am trying to stand on my feet to start with iron after this strong storm and bloody war“

This goal is a starting point as we facilitate long term support for Hadeel's family. I will be transferring the funds to a friend in Cairo who can then withdraw to get to Hadeel as often as possible. Her and her children will be forced to leave the apartment where they now stay in Cairo if they cannot pay rent. And it's nearly impossible for Palestinians who have evacuated to find jobs without Egyptian residency.

Hadeel needs our support to secure shelter, pay for food and clothing for her children and eventually reunite with her family. Her and her children deserve the entire world.

Thank you so much for reading,

Nassim

These are Hadeel’s words:

“I lost my first home in the 2021 war. Three years ago, I lived in the Al-Jalaa Tower, a huge tower in which I had a beautiful house, and above me was the Al-Jazeera staff. This entire tower was bombed, and we were not supported at all after that. I went and lived in another house and tried to put everything I loved into it during the war. These two years, this damned war will come and destroy it completely, just as my husband’s clothing store was completely destroyed and the clothes in it were burned, and my family’s house and my grandfather’s house were destroyed, and nothing I had was given to me. I was a physical therapist at Al-Shifa Hospital. Al-Shifa Hospital was destroyed and many of my colleagues and friends were martyred and died. I no longer have anything, neither a home nor a job nor any amount of money to live with here, and unfortunately there are insanely high prices”

"I had a lot of talent and creativity. I am very gentle. I care about every detail of my life, starting from the morning and breakfast until the end of a happy day. I love cooking and I practice it with passion. I love photography and production, and I love my field of profession in physical therapy, but unfortunately I did not complete physical therapy training because of this damned war. It destroyed everything. I no longer have any love or passion for life. I have lost my friends, my home, and my most beautiful things. I have moved away from my mother and father, and I miss them very much. This war has taken away everything beautiful from me"

Please help us to give Hadeel everything she needs.
