Help #HAITI Immigrants Feel Less Alone & Unwanted

I admit it.

I never thought I'd see so much silent #depression and so many people suffocate in the very place they came to breathe, to have a second chance at life.

It has been about three years since my wannabe free spirit and my wandering soul sort of took me on an intermittent tour of the U.S. in a desperate attempt to escape the incessant lockdowns type of lifestyle that has been our lot in my beloved #Haiti even before the Covid-19 pandemic, an attempt to break free of the omnipresent and near unbearable pain of seeing a country I love so much being brought to its already fragile knees, break free of counting endless days of stalled projects, of living continuous months of losing friends and family to rampant violence, outrageous cruelty and unspeakable irresponsibility of vile and merciless politicians, break free of helplessly witnessing my life and that of loved ones being robbed of us in the greatest indifference... The dark minds of fake leaders and malevolent demagogues stole our youth, hold our future captive, ripped our families apart, distanced us from our friends, and unabashedly and impenitently continue to uproot us from the cherished land that birthed, fed and nurtured us, consequently estranging us from our dearest memories...

My time and travels in the U.S. have helped me realize how difficult it is for unprepared #immigrants who have often hurriedly fled their country to fend for themselves. It is often a real and daunting struggle to get access to the bare minimum. Something as basic as getting a bank account, an ID, a driver's license or a proof of address can prove to be the biggest hassle for disoriented newcomers.

Besides the brutal challenge of surviving with no jobs, no reliable means of transportation, no credit history, no stable lodging, no money and no real support system, the new language and new culture often represent unsurmountable hurdles when they don't have any guidance or have no idea where to look for it. Add to this already awful predicament their unfortunate unwariness and obvious vulnerability to scammers of all kinds who ask nothing more than to abuse and take advantage of them, and you have an absolutely terrible plight.

In light of this undeniably HORRIBLE situation and after numerous talks with various #immigration experts, lawyers, social workers, concerned citizens and real people going through real immigration-related struggles impacting their daily subsistence, I have decided to leverage my communications and editorial background and use my firsthand experience to create an informational and inspirational #blog dedicated to real-life challenges immigrants face when settling in the U.S.

The goal is to offer practical solutions, creative and inspiring ideas and stories to help immigrants better and more easily navigate the many setbacks that come with relocating in the U.S.

TOGETHER, YOU and I can make vital information accessible in a language #migrants and foreigners from countries that used to be referred to as the Third World or, worse, derogatorily and offensively labeled the sh*thole can understand. But I can only do it with YOU.

I need your help to help bring this online resource to life and reduce the costs associated with starting and running the blog. Your contribution counts and will help a mother, a dad, a wife, a husband, a daughter, a son, a sister, a brother, a friend feel less confused, less alone, less unwanted within the big love-able human family.

The world can be so brutally cold sometimes. YOU have the power to help change that. Help the immigrants piece of the mosaic design of our society find its place and serve its purpose.

You can help complete this human puzzle by helping echo your immigrant neighbors' rallying cry, by helping them shine their bright, enlightening, humbling light onto the world, find peace, and thus helping make the world a better and warmer place for all.

No contribution is too small. Your every gesture can and will make a difference. Feel free to share the link within your circle, it'll be greatly appreciated and go a long way!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!
