Help Hal and Laura Empey After Losing Their Home
Donation protected
On New Year’s Day my grandparents, Hal and Laura Empey’s home was lost to a house fire. Anyone who knows them knows how incredibly special their home was. It was truly their life’s work. Almost 40 years ago they designed and built this home. They were continually working on home improvement projects and cultivating their garden. Every detail from the actual structure of the house down to the stained glass windows and draperies were made by my grandparents own hands and with the help of family members along the way. They loved to entertain and share their home with their many loved ones. In recent years they even opened their home for wedding receptions and airbnb guests. So many wonderful memories were created at their house and it will be dearly missed. We’re so grateful that my grandparents and Aunt Judy got out safely, but they have lost everything. There is so much they will be needing in the coming days and weeks, and we want to help to ease their burden. If you are able to contribute even a small amount our family would be so grateful.
We are hoping that insurance will cover most of the loss, but so much is irreplaceable. Money donated will go towards helping Hal and Laura get settled somewhere and get them set up with immediate needs like clothes, hygiene and medical items. It will eventually help with replacing things such as; furniture, linens, kitchen items, appliances, electronics, yard supplies and personal items. They have also lost the income from both their basement apartment rental and Airbnb.
Thank you!
