Help Halima & Hakim fight for their right to stay
Donation protected
We are raising funds for Halima and Hakim, our award-winning volunteers, who are fighting for their right to remain in the UK. They arrived in the UK in 2017, because their lives were in danger. Their application for asylum in the UK was refused, and their recent permission to appeal at Upper Tribunal was refused. Their solicitor has suggested that the best course of action at the moment is to try to settle in the UK based on the right to family life, proving their two children are fully integrated in Nottingham and that it would be cruel to remove the children back to their home country. Unfortunately, this work is not covered by legal aid, and as Halima and Hakim are not allowed to work, we are raising funds to give them a chance. The money we are hoping to raise will go towards solicitor's fees and a social worker assessment of the children.
Halima and Hakim are an amazing couple, full of talents and care for their community. Both of them volunteer regularly at Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Refugee Forum, providing advice to fellow asylum seekers, and interpreting between three languages. They are an asset to the organisation and to the local community, so we are asking you to help us help them win this fight and settle in Nottingham permanently.
