Help Hannah Pay Her Medical Bills For Rare Cancer
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Zoe Judd and two months ago my oldest daughter, Hannah Judd, discovered a lump in her upper left arm. She thought she'd injured it at work. I took her to the hospital and after x-rays showed a tumor just above her elbow, they sent her to an orthopedic oncologist for treatment. He wasn't sure what it was - having never seen a mixed tissue tumor present in the location it was in- and looking as it did. Feeling she needed a more qualified specialist, he sent her to an orthopedic oncologist who specialized in unusual tumors. That doctor ordered an MRI and discovered one large tumor and two small ones. When we met with him, he admitted that he wasn't sure what the tumor was - that he'd never quite seen anything like it. So he ordered biopsies. Getting the results back was a slow process. We were waiting and waiting - not realizing that he had gotten an initial diagnosis and was sending her results to oncologists and her MRIs to radiologists all over the country to verify what they'd found. On July 8, 2023, we learned that she has a very rare form of chondrosarcoma (MCS). This type of chondrosarcoma makes up less than 2% of all chondrosarcomas, resulting in fewer than 800 cases since it was first classified in 1959. Fortunately, the doctor Hannah was referred to is one of the few specialists who treat rare chondrosarcomas.
She'll be undergoing surgery and radiation (or radiation and then surgery - we're not sure which order yet), and then chemo. This cancer has a high chance of recurrence, so she will have follow-up MRIs and CT scans for the rest of her life.
Hannah started a new job in March and wants to continue working to keep her spirits up. However, her full benefits have not kicked in yet. She doesn't have PTO or vacation time to use when she can't work due to treatments. She has insurance, but she'll have deductibles to meet, as well as co-pays. Money raised in this GoFundMe, will go towards the costs of fighting this rare cancer.
The donations will be applied to 8 weeks off work after surgery. This is the estimate of her time off, we will not know for sure until she has the surgery and we see how much damage the tumor has caused. Her job requires lifting 50+ pounds on almost a daily basis. They do not have any 'light duty' work so she would not be allowed to work until she is fully healed. Additional funds will go towards her co-pays and deductibles for physical therapy, radiation, and chemotherapy.
Any little bit helps her in her fight against MCS!
