Help Hannah Study in South Korea

Hello everyone! My name is Hannah Jankovec and I am a rising senior at American University's School of International Service. Since January 2020, I have been trying to apply to study abroad through my university, but due to the ongoing global pandemic, it was not possible.

This year, against all odds, I am beyond pleased to announce that I have finally received approval to live my dream and spend the Spring 2022 semester abroad in Seoul, South Korea at Yonsei University.

As many of you may know, I studied abroad in Okayama, Japan in 2016-2017 thanks to Ely Rotary and Kojima Rotary, and that journey has continued to influence my life and future career goals. I continue using the Japanese language in my daily life, and it was an invaluable experience.

Since then, I have decided to dedicate time to learning another language I have always been interested in: Korean! I went from Elementary 1 Korean to Intermediate 2 Korean in just two semesters because of how deeply I fell in love with the language and I hope to become as fluent as possible. This is only one of the many reasons why I am so excited to study at Yonsei. My first experience abroad taught me so much about myself and how to navigate newness. I am beyond excited to go abroad as the "me" I am today and learn even more about myself as well as a new place, culture, and language.

In order to achieve this dream, however, I will need more than just an acceptance letter. As all of you are likely more than well aware, the COVID-19 pandemic has brought with it some of the most challenging financial times in years. There are many costs associated with studying abroad, so after some thought, I decided to create this Gofundme in case anyone was interested in helping me on my journey.
