Help Harley Rebuild After the Fire

Hello friends,

As many of you already know, my apartment caught fire on Fourth of July seemingly due to an errant firework or other ember landing on my balcony while I wasn’t home. Thankfully the fantastic folks at the Richmond fire department were able to save my cat Chairman Meow from the blaze and contain the damage as best as possible. But even with their reaction, my apartment is a total loss and I am in the struggling process of picking up the pieces and having to start all over again in a new spot.

To make matters worse, my renters insurance company did not auto renew like it was supposed to so I am without any kind of monetary compensation.

So many expenses will need to be replaced such as laptop and electronics, music equipment, mattress, furniture, books, clothes, records, appliances/home goods, etc. And that’s not even including all the sentimental and creature comfort items that I’ve gathered around me over the course of a lifetime.

That apartment was my sanctuary, the first place I lived by myself, where I learned how to be independent and set boundaries for my mental health, while also excitedly hosting friends at every chance I could. So many memories were made inside those walls and it just hurts to not have that comforting solace in my life anymore due to someone’s careless actions, destroying everything I’ve built in just a matter of moments.

Any help that you can give to try and smooth out this transitional period would be incredibly generous of you and would mean the absolute world to me. I love this community that I call home, not just in Richmond, but across the world, and already I have been so touched by everyone’s kindness right from the start. Thank you all so very much and I love you more than life itself.
