Help Support our Harvest Teams

Dear Hospitality Supporter,
The latest sudden shutdown of the restaurant industry in Pennsylvania has forced the layoff of at least 300,000 hospitality employees. At Harvest, we will be forced to layoff 250-300 employees with the closure of indoor dining. While a government mandate forced these closures, the government failed on the State and National level to provide any economic support to the employees that suddenly find themselves jobless just before the holidays.
The dire economic conditions of restaurants across the country and especially in Pennsylvania, has created a situation where restaurant owners and companies do not have resources to try to help their employees. After nine months of restrictions and lockdowns, restaurants are already on the verge of financial collapse and have exhausted all reserves to survive the first wave of shutdowns. We are predicting in the winter months, our sales at Harvest will be 10-15% of prior year. This will not create any meaningful cash flow to support our unemployed team members.
The economic reality at this time is simple. There are too many employees being forced out of work by the latest mandates, and not enough revenue coming in to support them. Our government has failed our hardworking hospitality employees who followed every rule and protocol, protecting public health and taking excellent care of our guests.
We are establishing a gofundme for our Harvest employees. This will be an emergency fund we divide across our employees based on urgent needs. Priorities such as rent, heat, food, utilities and other necessities to survive will be given first position. Providing for holiday essentials and making sure our employees with children can have a memorable holiday will be the second priority.
The shareholders of Harvest, including myself are setting up a matching fund campaign. With the kindness of Harvest shareholders, we are creating a matching fund up to at least $30,000. I wish there was more I could do personally, Harvest has always been a self-sufficient company and quite honestly it is embarrassing to ask for help for our team members. During the first wave of the pandemic I exhausted my personal savings, 401k, to cover payroll and health care expenses for my team in addition to taking 2nd and 3rd mortgages on my home. I will do all I can to provide and care for our team members in any way possible. I will continue to advocate on the State and National level to get them the help they deserve and to restore safe socially distant inside dining in our restaurants.
Any support you can provide our team members will be quickly distributed to our team members with the greatest need this Holiday season.
