Help Haughty Hazelnut Shine in Europe

Thanks for stopping by. My name is Brittany, although we're all here for Haughty Hazelnut!

As some of you know a few years back I gave myself the gift that keeps on giving, and took a burlesque class for my 30th birthday. There's been no turning back, and I've been on quite a few adventures since then.

At the end of 2023, I applied to a slew of out-of-town showcase festivals in hopes that I would get into 1 or 2 in 2024. Much to my surprise I was accepted into MANY! I feel incredibly honored to have already traveled to FOUR new states this year alone, and now I'm preparing to set off to EUROPE for not one but TWO showcasing festivals. I am pretty floored I was chosen for either, let alone both. Late this summer I will be off to Wales for The Wales Burlesque Festival, and then the Netherlands for The Dutch Burlesque Festival where I'll bring my traveling Damsel Damage Act.

I need a little help to get there though! Every festival feels like a huge opportunity, and I have greatly expanded my networks professionally, made new friends, and increased my general happiness at every single one I've been to. I was even named 'Most Classic' at the 11th Annual Oklahoma City Burlesque Festival in 2023! I have been lucky enough to be able to fund most of my travel through my day job or previous fundraising efforts, but the plane tickets to Europe are not cheap and I have exhausted most of my resources getting to and from the previous festivals I was accepted into earlier in the year. I am setting up this GoFundMe to help raise the funds I need for the basics to get me to Europe and back again.

Because I've been accepted into two festivals, and my day job is incredibly supportive of my sparkly exploits, I will stay in Europe from mid-August to mid-September. The funds raised in the GoFundMe will be used to purchase immediate airfare and a Euro-train pass. Any additional funds raised will be used for lodging and other airfare between countries if necessary. I am hoping to organize at least part of my stay through friends and producers, but there will be at least a few nights where I'll need to house myself.

You can also celebrate my travels by seeing me and all my sparkly friends at my fundraiser burlesque show - Uncle Sparky's Beach Party : Spark Joy - A Haughty Hazelnut Fun-Raiser happening July 20th at The Amsterdam Bar & Hall in St. Paul. There will be silent auction items, some of the best burlesque you'll ever see, tasty food & drinks available from The Amsterdam, and proceeds will go towards my travels.

Haughty Hazelnut is a Black & Queer internationally traveling burlesque performer based in Minneapolis, MN. When she is not managing at a local regional non-profit theater, she spends her time creating her acts from scratch and gracing stages all across the nation. Known as the ‘Sweetest Treat in Burlesque’, Haughty won ‘Most Classic’ at the 11th Annual Oklahoma City Burlesque Festival in 2023.
