Help Hayley Kick Cancer In the Ass

Donation protected
On July 7th, 2021, Hayley was diagnosed with stage 3 of a rare Ovarian Cancer close small cell Carcinoma of Hypercalsemic type. There has only been around 500 cases in medical history of this type of cancer in the world and Hayley’s specific type remains uncategorised due to its rarity. To find out more about this unknown type of cancer, her bloods and samples have been sent around Australia and to specialists in Melbourne who have provided funding towards a trial of chemotherapy treatments which have been partaken in Europe with close to 20+ participants.

Hayley is 27 and was working towards her career in a new workplace in Brisbane when she was struck with this diagnosis and has had to put her life on hold while she’s been busy kicking Cancer’s ass this past eight months. Since her unfortunate leave from the workplace, she’s been itching for the moment where she can jump back in where she left off.

After Hayley’s first two chemo sessions in July to September, she had to go through a hysterectomy/oophorectomy which is known as debunking surgery. She was given 4 weeks to recover before having to follow up with a series of trial rounds of Doxorubicin and cyclophosphamide chemotherapy which took a tremendous toll on her body and caused her to have to become an inpatient at the hospital due to her body needing multiple transfusions through its course.

Despite this. Hayley has been courageous and brave in the face of Cancer. Before and throughout her diagnosis she has been vibrant and shining brightly in the darkness whilst still bringing up the spirits of her friends and family, supporting them through all manner of hardships no matter her current situation. We need to make sure her light keeps burning as her journey continues on.

Hayley is currently taking on 5 weeks of radiotherapy which she started in February which goes from Mon-Fri, 5 days a week. As the progressive effects of radiotherapy can last for up to 3 months after the initial treatment her hopes for coming back to work in April has unfortunately been pushed back leaving her uncertain of her financial situation. Although Hayley’s treatment itself has been covered due to medical research; she has been feeling the mental and financial strain of the circumstances surrounding her diagnosis. Her mother Elizabeth who has been with her since the beginning of this diagnosis has been struggling alongside Hayley due to chronic illness and disability which limits what she can do to help her daughter as much as she wishes she could.

As finances rise due to more appointments and treatments through her radiotherapy she has had to cancel various private and psychiatrist appointments due to their cost as well as take out a loan to pay for groceries. She has sought to find other financial help and resources through social workers but cannot get anything close to the low-paying centrelink payments that barely keep her afloat.

We hope that we can put together enough to help Hayley and her mother so they can be comfortable in not having to worry about financial burdens throughout this journey and for what lies ahead. We want this fund to cover her fuel to-and-from the radiologist to get treatment, support her medical appointments, help with bills and groceries and keep her comfortable while she navigates through these turbulent times.

If you would like to assist with helping Hayley with her financial expenses we would appreciate it greatly. All funds raised will go directly to her to pay for her needs whilst battling this diagnosis. As Hayley continues to prove to the world that cancer messed with the wrong person, we would like to also thank you from the bottom of our hearts for sharing her story and your donations - big or small, it makes a huge difference.
