Help Hazel to get needed knee surgeries!

Hello!

We are the Shrewsbury family and we are raising funds for our dog Hazel. Hazel is now 19 months old, she is an Anatolian Shepherd Pyrenees mix. Hazel is a rescue dog who adopted our family last September at about 9 months old. From Forgotten to Forever is a rescue agency who believed in Hazel and nursed her back to health after she had a traumatic and neglected puppy-hood. Due to poor genetics and malnutrition, Hazel has had trouble with all of her joints and especially her knees. Hazel has to take medicine every day for pain, has a phobia about walking on non-carpeted surfaces, and cannot do things that she loves to do such as hiking, running, or wrestling with her dog siblings. Orthopedic specialists have found that Hazel has torn both of her ACLs and needs to have surgical procedures on each knee to stabilize the joints so Hazel can walk, run, and play without pain.

Despite Hazel's challenges, she has a wonderful temperament and we have found a way to give her a purpose. We are training Hazel to be a certified therapy dog! Hazel is able to wear shoes that help her to get traction on non-carpeted surfaces so she is overcoming her anxieties of slipping on slick floors. Hazel goes to work Monday-Thursday and supports clients at a Christian counseling practice, where she greets people, provides emotional support, and brings joy to people of all ages (including all the therapists)!

We would appreciate any and all help to buffer the cost of her two knee surgeries. The cost for each surgery will be $4,000-$5,000. Thank you in advance for your support!
