Help Hazel with Medical and Recovery Expenses

On December 21st of 2019, Hazel Rae Hayes was introduced to the world without the warmest of welcomes. Shortly after Hazel was born, her legs began twitching rhythmically several times, a telltale sign of seizures in babies. After this she was transferred to Children’s Mercy and through the results of medical imaging, it was confirmed our Hazel Rae had had a stroke at less than a week old. As a result, Hazel was diagnosed with spastic hemiplegia, a type of cerebral palsy.

Hazel has had a lot to conquer, especially with such harrowing difficulties trying to slow her down. Lucky for Hazel she was born to Brianna and Ryan, the most compassionate and selfless parents any baby would be lucky to have. They ensure she is working hard in and out of physical, occupational and speech therapy, go to every doctor’s appointment and whole-heartedly welcome new opportunities to help their daughter utilize whatever tools are available to give her the absolute best in this world.

Hazel’s parents have had a wonderful support system to lean on for help, however the time has come for Hazel to have a potentially lifesaving/preserving surgery, minimizing the likelihood of what may be numerous inevitable strokes due to the impairment of the blood disbursement in her brain caused by her first perinatal stroke.

Although relentless in every way for their daughter Hazel, they can only get so far in what we all know to be the austere time we are living in. Their PTO banks are soon dwindling to zero from Hazels innumerable doctor and therapy appointments and with the ability to make budgets stretch only so far, Brianna and Ryan need our help to be able to continue to care for Hazel the way she needs to be cared for to thrive in this life. Over the next days, weeks, and months ahead they will need to be at countless doctor appointments and hospitals stays due to this life changing surgery as well as assistance with the everyday costs of life while taking time off for Hazel’s care.
