Help Hospital Capacity Management Consortium grow!

It was four years ago when capacity command center leaders at Johns Hopkins, Yale New Haven, and Michigan Medicine were brainstorming ways to bring our industry together. It was out of these brainstorming sessions that the Hospital Capacity Management Consortium (HCMC) was formed. Our first meeting consisted of barely 20 attendees. Seven well-attended forums, many conversations, multiple networking connections, and a publication later, we boast a participant list of more than 500 leaders representing 42 states and 170 organizations!
We could not have done this without YOU!
We receive numerous requests from you asking for more – more networking, more content, more resources, more peer reviewed publications, more data, and other critical deliverables. The HCMC leadership understands the need. We understand the obligation you feel as you try to care for your communities in their time of need, and we share the burden in trying to support the needs of those we serve, our patients.
HCMC is a group of dedicated volunteers, and we recognize it is time to begin a larger journey to answer the call that is here – fundamentally change hospital capacity management. After almost two years of deliberation and difficult conversations, the HCMC steering committee wishes to advance our collaborative. We plan to incorporate and apply for non-profit status. We will create a website to serve as our source for networking, idea sharing, and beyond. We believe membership dues will be a part of our future together and believe firmly we can provide the return on the investment – even in these challenging economic times.
Capacity management professionals provide continuous, never ending, and always immediate response to the gravest challenges our communities face. From neonates requiring emergency transfer for life saving care to relieving our overcrowded emergency departments, the scope and breadth of issues we all face is familiar to us but invisible to many – even our local colleagues. We wish to create a community to advance our work, increase the data we use, and build a safe harbor for all of us, one where we repair ourselves after a storm while also building the ship of tomorrow, based on the lessons we learn from each storm we weather.
We are seeking your help to fund our startup costs for incorporation, website development and administrative fees. Will you please contribute today? Your support will ensure our future together and will serve as an invaluable resource for our next generation of capacity management leaders. Imagine what it will be like for them to enter the industry with a network of colleagues and best practices! On behalf of the HCMC steering committee, I thank you in advance for your generous contribution.
Any amount you are willing to gift is greatly appreciated and will be used solely for the advancement of HCMC.
