First and foremost, thank you for taking the time to read this.
My name is Marina and I am the niece of Dina Conforti.
My mom and Zia Dina are sisters. I have always been told by my Zia that I am her 5th daughter and she has forever and will always be my second Mom.
Zia Dina is the true definition of a selfless human being. She puts everyone before herself. She would take the shirt off her back for ANYONE. She does everything and anything for anyone she crosses paths with, family or not. She is always smiling and happy to be a friend to all. She is a gem of a woman, beautiful inside and out.
To know my Zia, is to LOVE her. We are raising funds to help Zia Dina with her battle with COVID-19. The goal is to get her life back and to help her once again enjoy all that she lives for; her beloved husband, four beautiful daughters, son-in-laws, and eight grandchildren. To my Aunt, family isn't just something, family is EVERYTHING!
On July 29th, she had come down with a fever and rushed to get herself tested for COVID-19 just as anyone else would during these unprecedented times. The next day, the results indicated that she was positive for the Coronavirus. Despite her continual fever and directive from the doctors to continue to self-quarantine at home, on the 8th day, she was rushed to St. Joseph's Hospital for respiratory failure.
On August 6th, 2020, everything changed drastically in our world. We are saddened. Zia Dina was admitted to the hospital with depleted oxygen levels, severe labored breathing complications, respiratory failure and bilateral pneumonia with underlying COVID, her conditions worsened.
Several days later, on August 11th, she was emergency intubated in a medically induced coma and put on a ventilator for life support ever since. Every day has been a battle. It seems every time we take a step forward, it's three steps back.
It's been 2 months of supportive ventilator treatment, fighting Post-COVID conditions, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), bilateral pneumonia, volatile oxygen levels, blood clots, erratic fevers, recurring infections and cognitive impairments. She is currently still sedated and clinging desperately to life.
This will be a long road ahead, and funds will be used towards her medical bills, post-recovery lung treatments, and future rehabilitation resources. This experience has truly impacted our family deeply. We thank those endlessly who have reached out in support and have been praying for my aunt - Zia Dina, a wife, a mom, a grandmother (Nonna). God bless Dina Conforti.
Thank you in advance for your help. Our family thanks you from the bottom of our hearts. Please also help share this GoFund Me page, as every share is an effort that counts to help heal my Zia and bring her home to us healthy and happy once again. Thank you and God bless.
