Help Heath Get His Top Surgery

Hello hello lovely people and welcome to my GoFundMe! My name is Heath (He/Him) and I am creating this GoFundMe to hopefully allow me to afford my top surgery and top surgery recovery in the near future.

A little bit about me, my gender journey was slow going at first, it took time for me to come into myself and my gender. I began my social transition when I was roughly 19 years old. I cut my hair, changed my name, and began taking the steps that would radically change my life for the better. About two years ago, I started taking testosterone. The accumulation of all of these changes lead me to begin to be able to meet my true self in the mirror. My transition saved my life and I am incredibly grateful to all of the people who have supported and loved me through this journey so far.

Although I can see more of myself in the mirror than I have ever been able to before, unfortunately, it has become very clear to me that existing with such intense dysphoria around my chest is significantly negatively impacting my life and self-image. This is where I need the support of y’all, my community, to help me raise the funds to cover the costs of my top surgery and recovery.

I have always taken being in my community and serving my community very seriously. I entered the mental health field with the intention of supporting queer people through journeys that both align with my experiences and don’t. In my work, I have also bared witness to the positive impact gender-affirming procedures can have on a person’s quality of life and ability to move through the world in an embodied way. In addition to my work in the mental health field, I am also a drag king. Doing drag has been a vehicle for me to help foster spaces for queer joy and community and an arena for me to stretch and expand my knowledge of my gender and expression. It's also offered me an amazing community of people who help make my life beautiful.

It is uncomfortable asking for help and I know that I need the surgery in order to be able to find peace in my body and to have the bandwidth to continue to show up in the community the way I strive to and often do. Donating to this GoFundMe has the potential to radically change my life and help me feel at home in my body. Any size donation is greatly appreciated.
