Help Heather Get a Sports Wheelchair
Donation protected
Hello, My name is Rachael Bailes and I am Heather Bailes’ Twin sister. As some of you already know, Heather was in an accident 7 years ago and she had to have her left leg amputated. Since then, Heather has been given the amazing opportunity to continue to coach volleyball for Mintonette Sports and Otterbein University.
Coaching volleyball is a full time job for Heather, and motivating athletes is her number one priority. Being able to be around athletes everyday and improve their lives as they pursue the sport of volleyball is very important to her and she has even been able to do this at the college level as well. She hopes to continue to coach at the college and club levels.
7 years ago, Heather was given a wheelchair and since then this wheelchair has broken. She has been in a rental wheelchair since march, however the wheelchair she owns cannot be fixed until parts arrive and the timeline is unpredictable. As you can imagine, This makes Heather’s day to day life very difficult, as each chair gets harder and harder to operate because it is not made to use the way her lifestyle needs it to.
What we are hoping for is to purchase a Sports Wheelchair for Heather. This chair will be more durable, but also it will survive the lifestyle she has with coaching volleyball as well as how often she uses the chair. We know it is a hard time to ask for help, however every little bit will help us reach the goal of purchasing a chair that will dramatically improve her ability to engage in her life’s activities as well as her daily needed activities.
Thank you to everyone who has helped in the past as well as the future. It really is life changing. What we have been able to get so far to improve Heather’s life and hope to continue to adapt to all the many things she still accomplishes since the accident and the future.
