Hello everyone! My cousin, Heather Dupre, lost her sense of taste and smell on August 18, 2020 after getting covid-19, just two days after her birthday. I have started this fundraiser in hopes of getting her medical treatment to get her senses back. Heather has Parosmia, which not only takes away her sense of taste and smell, but often can also make smells and flavors seem rotten, or like sewage. As you can imagine, this is not easy to live with. Parosmia can cause those who have it to go through emotional turmoil; as many of us know food is a source of comfort and joy to most people, myself included. Food is a huge part of our family, and it is truly a burden for her to not be able to enjoy it with the rest of us. I will start this fundraiser by making the first donation! If anyone is willing or has the means to help, please do. The treatment we are attempting to get is a Stellate ganglion block. It works by using local anesthetic to reduce the overactive nerves caused by parosmia, which would return her taste and smell to normal. This shot would change her life for the better, but we can’t do it alone. Thank you to everyone who contributes, even if it’s just by sharing!
