Help Heather get to Law School

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Araceli, and I am raising funds to help my friend Heather get to Law School.

I met Heather in the paralegal program at City Colleges of Chicago Community College. I was immediately drawn to her bad-ass aura and felt elated to have a kindred spirit in class. We are both single moms and have similar aspirations of going to law school and becoming public interest attorneys. I was in awe of Heather's hard work and dedication in this pursuit.

Heather graduated from the Paralegal program and was awarded a scholarship to complete her Bachelor's degree, which she impressively completed in under two years, DURING A WORLDWIDE PANDEMIC, while working a part-time job and completing a full-time internship. - I told you she is a badass.

This past spring, Heather graduated with top honors from Lake Forest College. Not surprisingly, Heather got into Law School!- 13 of them to be exact! Heather was awarded a full-ride scholarship to Law School. Three years tuition-free at a law school of her choice. Amazing!! Fantastic!!

Heather's dream of becoming an attorney stems from her desire to help the poor. You see, being poor is something Heather and I have some experience with. Legal representation is often only accessible to people of wealth. Heather is a big proponent of changing that and chose the best Law School to prepare her for public interest work, Northeastern Law, in Boston, Massachusetts.

Heather is on her way to Law School! But before she can start, she needs money to GET THERE. Heather needs housing in Boston, where her new school is located. Unfortunately, landlords in Boston demand three months' proof of full-time income or SIX month's rent upfront ($10,000), which she doesn't have. Heather's scholarship will pay for her living expenses, but not till September. Moving expenses are not covered and are not considered "cost of attendance," so Heather also needs to fund the move independently (Movers are quoting $4,000-$6,000.)

If Heather cannot secure housing in Boston, she can't go to Law School in the fall. If Heather withdraws from Law School this fall, she forfeits her three-year scholarship. And that, my friends, is how the system of poverty works.
You work so hard to get ahead and out of poverty, but not without having to beg your way out of it.

We cannot let Heather lose this scholarship! Heather needs our help now!
School starts in August, and if we don't get Heather to Boston before then, she will have to defer her entry to Northeastern Law- and she will lose everything she's worked for. I refuse to let that happen! Please join me and donate anything you can, share this fundraiser and help me get this amazing woman to Law School!
